Life at the Beach 2010
"At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun."
We were so lucky to be invited on a beach trip this past May by Grammy and Papaw. We went to Port Aransas and stayed in a great resort. Funny enough, Matt actually stayed at this same location during a band trip in high school. Grant was so excited and talked about “going to the beach” consistently.
The weather was pretty cloudy on the first day (when these below pictures were taken) but cleared up nicely for the remaining couple days that we were there.
We also spent a lot of time in the 3 different swimming pools that the resort had. Charlotte liked to sit with her Grammy in the shade and watch all the action in the pool.
She got in the pool once with Daddy, but quickly decided that it was way to cold and wanted nothing to do with it.
But once again our little “water baby” Grant loved the pool. I bet he jumped off the side, to our waiting arms, at least 100 times. He slept really well each night after that jumping and swimming!
There was also lots of sandcastle building and playing in the sand. Charlotte even brought her own chair!
Early one morning we decided to have a mini photo shoot of the kiddos on the beach…you know me, of course that was my idea. No one was as excited as I was to partake but I ended up with a lot of sweet shots. So I will chalk it up to…totally worth it!

My camera happy ways…
I know that my kids get so tired of having my camera in their faces but they are just so darn cute and I can’t help it! It has come to a point where Grant will play “take your picture” with his stuffed animals and then give them pretend candy afterwards, haha!
The other night when the lighting was beautiful we took the kids to a park and we got some really great pictures!
Ok, so we got cute pictures of the child that would sit still and cooperate…
She is such a sweetie and we love her so much!
Playing together…
We have been working with Grant on playing with Charlotte and sharing his toys with her. He really is a sweet big brother and shares very well. He will give her a toy if she is reaching for it and very rarely takes toys away from her. We hope that this continues and that they love to play together when Charlotte gets older…witch won’t be too much longer!
Grant’s 3rd Birthday Party!
“The most amazing thing about turning 3
Is your world's now filled with discoveries.”
On May 8th we celebrated Grant’s 3 birthday with a Disney Cars themed party, lots of friends and a jumpy house!
That morning when the jumpy house was delivered Grant was completely overjoyed! He watched the guys put it together and he couldn’t wait to “jump, jump, jump!”
While all the older kiddos jumped and played Charlotte spent time with her Nanny and just looked cute!
Once all of his friends got here they really did “jump, jump and jump!'” Everyone loved it so it was totally worth it. (It was such a hit we may have to have one every year! ) We had cupcakes, pizza and chips and dip for everyone to snack on throughout the party,
Grant had been asking me to sing Happy Birthday to him all week but when it came down to everyone looking at him and signing directly to him, he got a little shy and embarrassed…so cute!
Of course he loved opening his gifts too…what little 3 year old doesn’t love receiving and opening gifts. He got lots of cars, a sleeping bag, a golf set, books and games! What a lucky boy!
Grant has some of the sweetest little friends and we are so glad that they came to celebrate this special day with us! (It is hard to get 6 three year olds to sit together for a picture…but you get the idea!)
Happy 3rd birthday to my sweet Mister! I cannot believe that it has been 3 years since that little 7 pound baby was placed in my arms!
Charlotte is 7 months old!
Is that not the sweetest picture you have ever seen. Charlotte was very happy to sit with the bunny this month for her monthly picture. But that is no surprise…she is such a happy girl! Here are a few things that happened this month:
- you have mastered sitting up by yourself and will sit up for long periods of time just looking around.
- you celebrated your first Easter and got your first Easter basket.
- you still think that your brother is so funny and love to laugh at him, especially in the car.
- you are eating eating stage 2 baby food twice a day…one fruit or oatmeal in the mornings and a veggie at night.
- you are still an excellent sleeper, if you could just drop that 4am feeding!
- your bunny picture was taken sitting on the floor instead of in the chair…mommy was afraid that you might topple out!
- when we come to get you out of bed in the morning you kick your legs and squeal at us!
- you have gotten two teeth this month! (No wonder you were so fussy) The bottom right one came in first, shortly followed by the bottom left. Such a big girl!
We love you sweet girl and cannot believe that you are 7 months old!
Easter morning 2010
“The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."
Matthew 28: 5-7
Aren’t we blessed as believers to know a God that sent His son to rise from the grave and forgive our sins?! Yes, we are! Easter morning we woke up and the kiddos went through their Easter baskets.
Grant got lots of candy, books and a few toys. Charlotte got a glow-worm that plays music. Grant immediately asked to eat candy immediately…but we decided it was best to wait until after 9:00 in the morning. After Easter baskets the boys went to get donuts and the girls stayed behind to help the Easter bunny hide eggs in the backyard. This was a tradition that Matt’s family had growing up.
Grant was so excited to hunt for them when he got home.
After donuts and yes, a few pieces of Easter candy, we all got ready and went to church! What a great Easter morning!
