Another color lesson!

Since we are still working on colors with Grant, we found these neat Crayola bath tablets that turn the bath water different colors.

Every night we worked on a different color and Grant really enjoyed it!

A Love / Hate relationship with.....

Grant's Dinosaur Boots!

Grant got these super boots dinosaur boots from him Grammy when she came to visit last week. He was so excited and wanted to hold them in the car on the way home. When we got home he still wanted to play with them and even try to put them on himself.

I thought for sure that he would enjoy wearing them and that they would be his new favorite shoes and we would have to wear them everywhere...well that was absolutely not the case!

Apparently he only likes the boots when they are off of his feet! He would not even take a step with them on his feet. I thought it was hilarious..he, on the other hand, did not.

Oh well at least we will have them to play with!

It's Batman!

"Holy pajamas Batman!" - Robin

Learning Our Colors, Part 1

A few days ago I was determined that I was going to teach Grant something new that day. Every toddler needs to learn their colors so that was the task for the day. I knew that I needed something that would be entertaining and toddler proof. So I decided to mix food coloring and vanilla pudding for him to play in, eat and mix the colors together.

We had four main colors to start off with - blue, red, green and yellow. I gave Grant a spoon and he enjoyed playing the colored pudding and mixing the colors. As we mixed different colors to make new ones we talked about them and practiced saying the names.

After a little while doing that Grant discovered that the stuff he was playing with actually tasted good and it was all over after that. He LOVED to dip his fingers in the pudding and eat it.
So there we have it..Grant learned to say and recognize the color "blue" and had a full stomach of pudding afterwards. What a fun activity!

Grant's first trip to the Children's Museum

Today we took Grant on his frist trip to the Children's Museum! Boy, was there lots to explore and learn about! There was a pretend grocery market where Grant got to shop and put the fruits and vegtables in his basket to take to the checkout counter. Then he got to work the cash register and play with the pretend money.
He also enjoyed counting the coins and placing them in the correct change amounts.
Next we moved onto the magnifying glass where Grant had a ball! He especially liked to place the magnifying glass over his mouth and nose which was quite funny.
They also had an old time car that he could climb into and look a the engine. There was an area with lots of toddler type toys too that Grant enjoyed playing with. He actually shared with the other kids very well and we were very proud of him.
We had a great time at the Children's museum today and I'm sure we will be going back in the future! (Jan.10, 2009)

What did 2009 start with....

Ernie and Sesame Street of course! Grant has been loving on Sesame Street, Ernie and Elmo ("Momo" as he calls him) for about 4 months now. Every morning Grant and I sit together and watch Sesame Street. It starts off with the "Sunny Days" theme song and Grant runs up to the TV, turns a circle and dances to the whole song. He thinks Oscar the Grouch is so funny too! :)
So when we saw a Bert and Ernie ride at the Outlet malls on New Years Day, I knew that Grant would have to ride! And ride he did...4 quaters worth! He loved every minute of riding with Bert and Ernie in the firetruck!

Hosting Christmas Lunch!

This year Matt and I hosted both of our sides of the family for Christmas lunch. It was extra special because Matt's grandparents, Grannie and Pop from Dublin, TX, were able to join us. Grant went down for his nap shortly before all the festivities started so he was missed during the lunch but we all understood he had an exciting morning already. The menu for the lunch included Smoked Turkey (Matt is a pro at this using his smoker outside), mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, fruit salad, sweet potatoes and dinner rolls. Then for dessert Grannie made a wonderful cherry pie (at my request...I love cherry pie) and a great coconut cream pie.

We were so blessed to be able to spend this time with family!

It's Christmas Morning!

Santa was very good to Grant this year and left him lots of toys, book and games under the Christmas tree The first thing Grant went for was the tricycle....he didn't quite know how to ride it but that didn't matter!
Grammy was here to help us celebrate on Christmas morning....unfortunately Papaw had to work so we all missed him! Grant was so excited with all the gifts that he got. He got a tricycle, a soccer goal and ball, a table for in his playroom with lots of pretend food and dishes, a giant monkey to wrestle with, blocks to stack, a car and track and numerous books and puzzles! He immediately wanted to play with the soccer goal. The playroom table and charis had already be broken in the night before when we all sat around and pretended to eat! So fun!

Matt and I also had a very nice Christmas and got alot of very nice gifts. Just to name a few, Matt got a diploma frame, a fishing shirt, cologne, a blower and lots of other things. I was also totally spoiled this Christmas with many very nice gifts, ie. perfume, James Avery ring, cute lepard prinf shoes, laundry baskets and lots of other things. After we opened gift we had cinnamon rolls and Grant watched the Christmas parade. What a great morning!

Twas the night before Christmas....

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the room
Grant was anxiously waiting
For Santa to come soon.
~
Grant's stocking was hung
next to Abbe's with care.
And the Santa pajamas
we laid out to wear.
~
After a bath and some milk
and a book and a kiss,
Grant was ready for bed
and dreams of Christmas day bliss.
~
We are so lucky this year
Grant is so wonderful and sweet!
Celebrating Christmas with him
was an unforgettable treat!
