Happy Halloween 2009

pumpkin

We had such a fun Halloween this year!  Grant actually let us dress him up and we were so happy to have Charlotte here to celebrate with us too!

We started the day off with some Halloween treats for breakfast…banana ghosts and “bones and blood”.  The banana ghost were just bananas dipped in white chocolate and the “bones and blood” were cinnamon-sugar breadsticks and strawberry jelly.  Grant really enjoyed both of them!

Around lunchtime we headed to the front of our neighborhood for the festival that was going on.  They had games, a cake walk and lots of “bouncy houses” that Grant loved to play in.  He also enjoyed his first bite of blue cotton candy!  Unfortunately I did not have the camera so no pictures from there!  Lunch was also in the form of a Halloween treat.  We made mummy hotdogs!  Just hotdogs wrapped in breadsticks with mustard eyes…they were a hit and gobbled up!

Our kiddos are just so adorable that we cannot help taking lots of pictures of them…and now that Charlotte has come along it has gotten worse.  We tried to get them to pose together in the rocking chair and it worked for about a minute…

And then it turned into this…

Oh well, maybe one day Grant will like to be near his baby sister!  After a long nap for everyone it was time to get ready for trick-or-treating!  Grant was the cutest little fly fisherman that we have ever seen!

Charlotte was so little that it was hard to find a costume for her so we just decided on a cute onesie and bow.  Since it was chilly outside we thought that a hat might be better…but as you can see she did not approve and wanted her bow back.

Grant’s friend, from across the street,  Isabella stopped by for candy so we decided to trick-or-treat with her family.  She was the cutest angel ever!  They went from house to house together collecting lots of candy!  Grant would say “more me house” after he would get candy and was very polite saying “tank you” to everyone too!

Grant got lots of candy and got to eat 2 pieces when we got home.  He also really enjoyed ‘helping people” that came to the door to get candy from us.  About 8:45 everyone was tuckered out but we had had a great Halloween day!

Charlotte is 1 month old!

Char. 1 month old

Our sweet Charlotte turned 1 month old on October 25th!  It is so hard to believe that it has been a month already!  Here is what you have done this month:

  • The first few weeks you were sleeping most of the day.  We even called the doctor to see if you were sleeping too much!  That changed after about 3 weeks of being home.  Now you are awake and alert about 6 hours a day.
  • You are still sleeping in our room in the pack ‘n play.  We enjoy you being so close to us at night but you are a very loud sleeper…you grunt, groan and stretch so loudly!
  • You eat about every 2-3 hours.  At night we can set our clock by you…3 hours on the dot!  You are nursing every feeding except for the 3:00am feeding where daddy gives you a bottle of formula. (Mommy really appreciates this!)
  • When we first brought you home we wondered if you would ever cry, since you did so so infrequently.  Boy, you proved us wrong!  You have some lungs and like to use them.
  • You really enjoy sitting and sleeping in your bouncy chair.  We are so glad we have that thing…one of the best purchases ever!
  • When you left the hospital you weighed 5lbs 11oz and at 2 weeks old you weight was 6 lbs 5 oz. At 4 weeks old you were 7lbs 7 oz. so you are growing very well.
  • You are still in newborn clothes and we love the cute footsie pajamas!

We are so blessed by you sweet girl and we thank God often for our healthy beautiful little girl!  We look forward to watching you grow and seeing what the next month holds in store for you!

You looked a lot like your brother at 1 month old…you guys could have been twins!

Preschool Fun Run

Grant’s preschool had a Fun Run that the parents could come watch that would raise money for the preschool programs.  All the kiddos got a number and ran around the track with their teachers and the laps were counted.

Here is Grant “running” with his teacher.  He wasn’t too sure about all this.  This was also before he saw mommy waiting around the corner to take his picture.

IMG_1453 After he saw me was was very upset that I was there and he wasn’t with me so I decided to run the track with him.

His preschool is wonderful and they have great activities planned for all the kiddos all the time.  He is really enjoying it!

Going for a walk…

Charlotte: “Seriously, are all these blankets really necessary?  It is Houston after all!”

The Two Cutest Pumpkins in the Patch

DSC04951

For the past two years we have taken Grant to a pumpkin patch, so this year we were excited to be able to take Charlotte as well.  There is a church over by our house that brings in pumpkins and sets them up to walk through and buy.  The also have cute backdrops for pictures set up as well.

Aggie Football Anyone?

Matt’s friend Travis brought this Aggie shirt for Charlotte when he went to an Aggie game a few weeks back.

Gotta get ‘em started early!  Gig ‘em Aggies!

You can never have too many pictures…

She is just so beautiful!  How can proud parents not help but take ten thousand pictures!  The first month goes by so fast!  Here is how our little girl is growing!  All these pictures are from the first month that Charlotte was home.

Our pretty girl waiting patiently for us to get her bath ready.

Yes actually never cries in the bath, we think she actually enjoys it!

This was Charlotte’s first time to lay on her play mat.  She enjoyed looking around and practicing her daily tummy time.
