We are excited to announce that…

itsagirl

Yes, that is right….Grant is going to have a little sister!  We were more than shocked!  We thought for sure that it was going to be another little boy.  What a wonderful surprise!

Here is her profile picture and the second picture is a face of her face…(you can see her little eye)

She is so beautiful already and we are in love with her already!

We went to the doctor for our routine 20 week ultrasound last week and were a bit surprised with the results.  We were told that the baby had an abnormality in her bowels and that we needed to see a  “ baby-doctor” specialists.  (As we call him.)  That was on Tuesday and on Friday we were lucky enough to have gotten an appointment to see him.   We were very nervous but he put us at ease when he started the ultrasound.  He was very professional and extremely through, so we knew that our little girl was in the best hands possible.  He said that she has something called echogenic bowel.  That is where the bowl appears lighter colored on the ultrasound that the rest of the other organs.  He said it could be caused by a number of things from blood that the baby swallowed from the previous hemorrhage earlier in the pregnancy to an infection, to a blockage in her bowels.  We had the ultrasound at 20 weeks and 2 days gestation and she was measuring at 19 weeks 2 days…although it concerned us the doctor said she just might be small.

There is really nothing that we can do about any of these situations since she is still so little, but I do go in for blood work tomorrow to hopefully rule out infection and chromosomal abnormalities.   Then we go back to the doctor in 4 weeks for another ultrasound to check on the growth of our little one and the if there are any changes in her bowel.

This experience has been a total test of faith in Christ for both Matt and I.  My prayer is that whatever comes of the situation with our sweet girl that Jesus is seen through it.  We always need to remember that she is His and whatever will He has for her life we need to except and praise Him for that.  (Which is extremely difficult to do  and we struggle every day.)  Please join us in praying that God will heal our little girl and that she would continue growing everyday.  Also pray for faith for Matt and I.  Thank you sweet friends and family for your prayers for our little girl!

Bye Bye Crib…

Hello big boy bed!  This weekend was the weekend!  Since there is a baby brother or sister on the way soon, we decided that it was time for the guest bedroom to be converted into Grant’s big boy room.  We got cute Pottery Barn Kids bedding, a brand new big boy bed, and many cute airplane decorations to make Grant’s new bedroom perfect for a growing toddler!

Grant transitioned perfectly from the crib to the toddler bed a few months ago so we figured that this would be no problem.  That night we did our normal bedtime routine but when it was time to get in bed we explained that Grant had a big boy bed waiting for him in his new room.  Then we had a special book to read in bed together!

byebyecrib After the special book, tucking in with the blankies, many hugs and kisses and of course the fishy aquarium being turned on (yes, that made the move too) Grant was ready for his first night in his new room and big boy bed.

Grant slept perfectly that night and we did not hear from him until 7:30 the next morning!  We would call that a successful transition from crib to big boy bed!  Yea!! :)

2 Year Old Big Boy Check-up

IMG_0726crop

Every little boy needs to go in for a two year old check-up and today was Mister Grant’s turn.  We had not been to the doctor since his last check-up at 18 months…he was a very healthy boy this past winter!  He was happy playing in the waiting room with all the other kids but when we went back to the check-up room he went bonkers!  He did not want anything to do with the nurses or doctors.  What else would you expect from a two year old!

Here are Grant’s stats from the visit:

Height: 35 in (50-75%)

Weight: 30 lbs (75%)

Head: 49 cm (50-75%)

The doctor said that based on his height now that Grant would be around 5ft 11in. as an adult.  Interesting how they know that!  After one shot we were done and Grant happily said “all done”!

Grant is two…let’s see what you can do!!

“ A two year old is like having a blender, but you don’t have a top for it!” – Jerry Seinfield

IMG_0740bw

You have accomplished so much in two short years it is amazing to us!  Below are 24 things, experiences, or milestones that happened all before you turned 2!

*You tell us “I love you”. Especially when you are put into bed at night we will tell you I love you and you will want to say it to us 5 more times as we leave the room and are into the hall. We always answer your sweet “I love you” with an ‘I love you too!” (Even if it is the fifth time!)

*You are so observant and remember everything! For example, you always remember places that we have gone after only one time of being there.

*You love your “fishies” aquarium that is on your bed. It plays music and you need it to go to sleep at night. When the batteries run out, watch out!! Mommy and Daddy better have more batteries handy!

*You are such a good boy. You are very easy-going and rarely ever get upset. You have excellent behavior when we are out in public and even at home.

*You give the best group hugs. When daddy comes home from work you always want to have a group hug with everyone.

*You never forget to pray before mealtime. You always hold out your hands to both of us to take and after we say the prayer you say “Tank you Gigi” (Thank you Jesus!) It melts our heart to no end!

*You like to help pick out what you are going to wear in the morning. Although it is usually “turtle shirt” you still give your opinion.

*You love to sing songs! Your favorites are “The Wheels on the Bus”, “BINGO” and “Elmo’s World”.

IMG_0712crop

*You are getting ready to start potty training by letting us know that you are dirty or wet.

*You can count to 5 without any help and also recognize all the 1-5 numbers.

*You help to feed Abbe every day by getting out her food and putting it into her bowl.

*You are now sleeping in your big boy bed with no problems. You even get into bed every night without any complaining and you never get up. (You are a dream to put to bed!)

*You love to help mommy every day. You love to put trash in the trash can, help throw away the diapers, put the laundry into the washing machine and the clothes into the dryer.

IMG_0269bw

*You are a great eater. If we ask you to “try it once” you will…even if you don’t like it. You also like to “dip-dip” everything in ketchup!

*You love to jump…..off the deck, into pillows, on the bed, and while dancing to a songs.

*You like to help mommy put on makeup every morning. You come into the bathroom and point to the mascara and say “eye” and point to the lipstick and point to mommy’s lips. But most of all you like to sit on my lap and play with the handheld mirror and look at yourself.

*One of your favorite sayings is “Oh no!” You will say “Oh no shoes” if you can’t find your shoes or “oh no mommy” if I am hidden under a blanket.

Grant

*You know all of your main colors, red, blue, yellow, green, purple, white and black.

*You love to play with daddy in the backyard. You think he is way funnier than mommy!

*You like to take off all your clothes and dance in front of the mirror in just your diaper. But you get embarrassed if anyone is watching.

*One of your favorite games is “pretend eat”. We have to sit with you under the slide in the backyard at the picnic table and “eat”. When we ask you what we are eating you always say “apple pizza”!

*You can spell your entire name! It is so cute…G-R-A-N-T!

IMG_0074

*You can recognize lots of letters when you see them. Your favorites are B, G, Q, T, D and many more!

*You make us smile and laugh every single day and are completed amazed at all the new things you learning. We look forward to many, many more memories with you, our sweet precious boy!

Exactly Two Years Ago Today…

Mommy: “Grant, how old are you today?”

Grant: “TWO!!” (Holding up both hands and all ten fingers!)

Today, my sweet love, you are officially two years old….we can hardly believe it!  You have brought such joy and laughter to our lives!

We already had your birthday party but we decided to celebrate again with Grammy, Papaw and Uncle Mark because a boy can never have too many birthday celebrations!

Let’s Have a 2nd Birthday Party with Elmo!

blowing

This past Saturday we enjoyed Grant’s 2nd birthday party with lots of family and friends!  Since Grant’s favorite thing in the world is Elmo it was only fitting that we have an Elmo themed party!

Since the party was at 11:00am we had lunch snacks for everyone to enjoy including sandwiches, chips, dips and a fruit tray.  Then we had an Elmo cupcake cake.  The cake had Elmo, Mr. Noodle and Dorthy (the fish) on it …Grant was quite excited and impressed!

The party was so much fun and Grant had a great time playing with his friends, Mason Bobo, Mikayla Ross, Isabella McClendon and cousin Wesley.  Everyone enjoyed playing in the playroom with all the toys and out in the backyard on the new deck with the bubble maker.

Last year Grant did not understand that at a party you get to open presents…this year was much different.  He tore into the bags and wrapping paper faster that I could place them in front of him.  He got lots of great gifts including many Elmo gifts, toddler computer games and a Little Tykes guitar.

Then it was time for a sugar rush with some yummy Elmo cupcakes and a song for the birthday boy.

“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Grant…”

Thanks to all of our friends and family that made this second birthday party so special and memorable for all or us!  It is so hard to believe that our little man is 2 already!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! How blessed am I to be celebrating this year with a spunky 2 year who is the love of my life, another little miracle on the way that we can't wait to meet and the greatest husband that anyone could ask for! Yep, there you have it.....I am blessed.

My sweet husband was so thoughtful this Mother's Day and took Grant down to a pottery place here in town to make something special for me! What came out of that day melted my heart! Grant made a plate with his little hand prints on it! I love it and will treasure it always! I also got a very sweet book from my mom called "Why a Son Needs a Mom". It is so sweet and she added special pictures of Grant and I to many of the pages. I love it!

I also want to wish a Happy Mother's Day to my mom who never gets tired of playing with Grant and watching him run out of his closet 50 times and enthusiastically asking "where is Grant, where is he?" before each time! Thank you for loving me and loving your grandson so much!

And also to my mother-in-law for raising such a wonderful son that I am so proud to call my husband!

Next year will be double the fun and love! We can't wait!
