Around and around again!

For Grant's 2nd birthday we got him his very first tricycle. Ever sine then we have been practicing riding, although he never really got the hang of it until now. We think what helped was that we took the tricycle to Grammy and Papaw's house and they have a sloped drive-way that made the pedaling easier for Grant.

Just the past week Grant's tricycle skills have really taken off! He has gone around the kitchen about 100 times and loves every minute of it! Too cute!

Pregnancy Cravings….yum yum!

In both pregnancies I really have not had many, if any, cravings that I can think of…until now!  You know that it must be a craving if you wake up thinking about this thing constantly!

SnickerDoodle Cookies!

(They are going to be my weakness these last few months, but oh so worth it!)

What makes it even better is that Grant loves to help “roll”  the cookies.  He pulls up his chair and if we even think about rolling the dough around in the cinnamon and sugar ourselves he says “no, me!  No, me!”

By the end of rolling the cookies Grant is more interested in sticking his fingers in the cinnamon and sugar and licking them.  Only cookies that a mommy and daddy could love!

Vacation Bible School 2009

boomerangexpress_logo_color “God's love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him."

1 John 4:9

Although he wasn’t so sure at first, Grant ended up having a great time at Vacation Bible School this year. The theme was Boomerang Express which meant lots of learning about Jesus and Australia. I volunteered to be a Crafts helper with the 3rd graders. I had a great time but let me tell you, 3rd graders are a wild group!

Grant had a group of very sweet teachers and youth helpers that loved on every child continuously!

scan0025 scan0020 They had lots of fun crafts planned every day…many of them are still laying around the playroom and we still talk about them often.

The “Bye-Bye Buggie” is by far one of the biggest hits for Grant! Every morning they had worship and his teachers would take all the kiddos in the bye-bye buggie down to the sanctuary to listen to the music.

Grant learned lots of Jesus “Gi-gi” and had so much fun! He took long naps every day which helped out a very tired mommy too! We look forward to next years Vacation Bible School!

A New Little Girl means a New Little Nursery

Never did we think that one day we would be turning Grant’s jungle themed nursery into a nursery fit for a little girl, complete with pink walls and home-made smocked dresses on the wall.  Truthfully we did not know where to start and the transformation was a little bittersweet in knowing that our little Grant was growing up before our eyes.

Once we got started though….there was no stopping us amateur decorators and we has so much fun!  Matt started by priming all the wall and painting above the chair-rail light pink and below chocolate brown.

We had a picture frame that we painted white to match the room and Grant helped attach the hangers to the back.

Now for the completed product!  We are so happy with the way that it turned out!

The monogram on the wall is actually is a wall decal (sticker).  The actual wall is painted brown behind the frame and the white frame is placed over it without the glass.  We had a difficult time finding art work that matched our cherry blossom bedding so we made our own with white canvases, ribbon and more wall decals.

IMG_1054The pink and green dresses hanging on the wall were actually my dresses when i was a little girl that my mom made.  She is a excellent seamstress and smocked each of those little dresses.  We can’t wait to see Charlotte in them one day.  The other little yellow dress was the first thing that we bought when we found out that we were having a little girl.  It hung in our bedroom for a long time and reminds us to always have faith in our Lord.

We had a few other accessories on the wall that incorporated our favorite verse Psalms 139:14.  The brown frame on the left actually has a black and white picture of the bible passage itself.

With the nursery finished all we need is our little girl to make it complete!  We can’t wait!

Third Trimester…here we come!

“A grand adventure is about to begin.”
-Winnie the Pooh

The final countdown has begun….we are getting very excited to meet this special little one that has already stolen our heart.  We are still going to our pregnancy specialist and he is very happy with Charlotte’s growth and my overall pregnancy progress.  Here is our newest ultrasound picture of Charlotte at 28 week.

27 weeks 5 days You can see her eyes, nose and perfect little face in this picture.  Also her little hand off to the left of her face.

Here is my 28 week belly picture too.  I was comparing pictures from when I was pregnant with Grant and I seem to be growing about the same…large!  Ha, whatever is good for this little girl though!

4th of July Festivities

1

“Freedom is nothing but the chance to be better.”

We had such a fun 4th of July weekend this year!  We met Mark, Katie and Wesley at mom and dad’s house in New Braunfels for a relaxing weekend.  Unfortunately dad had to work so it was just mom, better known as Grammy to Grant and Wesley.  It had been a few months since we had seen Wesley and we were surprised at how he had grown!  6 months old is such a cute age so were able to get lots cute pictures of Mister Wesley.

When we got there on Friday the guys went on their guided fishing trip and let the girls and kiddos to hang out at home.  Grant and Wesley loved playing together on the floor with the cars so that was a favorite activity of the weekend.

The pool was also a huge hit all weekend!  Since it was so so hot outside this was fine with everyone.  There were hours and hours of jumping and splashing!

It was Wesley’s first time in the pool  so he enjoyed floating around in the baby floaty.

On Saturday we all got dressed up in our finest Independence Day attire and headed out to the 4th of July parade!

Unfortunately we missed the parade ( it actually started at 9:15am and not 10:00) but we still got some cute family pictures and also got to walk around the town square and hear the Mayor’s speech.

Because it was so dry and so hot outside this year all the firework’s stands in New Braunfels were closed.  But we did get to sit in mom and dad’s front yard and watch the city’s public fireworks display.

This weekend was so fun and we were so glad that we were able to spend it with Mark, Katie, Wesley and mom.

Guy’s Fly Fishing on the Fourth

Matt and Mark had been wanting go on a guided fly fishing trip for some time now, so the July 4th weekend was the perfect time to do so.  This trip was important for both of them because they both had yet to catch a fish on a fly.  So with kayaks, fishing equipment and sunscreen in tow they set out for the San Marcus river.

Within 5 minutes Mark had caught his first fish, a small bass, and Matt had gotten hopelessly tangled up in his fishing line and fallen out of the kayak.  So the day could only get better for Matt.

But it definitely did get better!  Matt and Mark ended up catching about 10 fish each and having a great time on the river that day!
