Let's go see Shamu...

We have been waiting to take Grant to Sea World ever since he was born. Matt and I love Sea World and were hoping that Grant would enjoy it as much as we do....he certainly did! He was very excited about seeing all the big "ishes".

Our first stop was at the dolphin petting pool where we got to feed the dolphins fish and pet them as they came to the surface. Grant was a little hesitant at first because they were so much bigger than the "ishes" that we see at PetSmart, but he quickly warmed up and really enjoyed watching them.

Onto the Shamu show! It was such a lovely day outside and the outside stadium had a great cool breeze flowing through it. Grant was very impressed when all the Orca whales would jump out of the water at the same time. But the thing that really got his attention was at the very end when one whale jumped up high and touched a ball with it's nose. He really liked that ball! Haha!

Here are Grant, Matt and papaw enjoying the show.

The penguins were next and, much to our surprise, there was a costumed penguin family waiting to take a picture with us. Grant thought the penguins were so funny and enjoyed taking pictures with them.

I wish that we would have taken a few more pictures while we were there but we were just having too much fun! We left the park around 3:30 and everyone was ready for a nap! We are so glad that Grant had such a fantastic time!

16 Weeks Pregnant

This pregnancy has gone by so fast that I literally turned around and I was 16 weeks pregnant and had not taken any pictures of my growing belly! Looking back at my pregnancy pictures with Grant I realized that I am definitely getting bigger faster with this little one!

Here are a couple more ultrasound pictures of the little one too. We had our latest ultrasound at 12 weeks and the baby was looking great and growing well.
We have another doctors appointment coming up this week but that is just a check-up and no ultrasound will be done. Then comes the big ultrasound at 20 weeks when we will find out the sex of the baby! We are so excited and looking forward to seeing our little one again!

A very blessed Easter

"Three days later...three days later...three days later, He rose!!
That was the end of the beginning!"

We had a great Easter! After a visit from the Easter Bunny for Grant which included a Snoopy book, Thomas the Train set, Elmo Easter basket and various other fun things we got all dressed up and headed to church where Nanny, Pop and Uncle Andrew met up with us. Grammy came down from New Braunfels to spend the holiday with us as well. After a wonderful church service we all went back to our house for an Easter lunch. Uncle Mark, Aunt Katie and Wesley joined us also after their church service.

Grant and Wesley were very impressed with all of the goodies from the Easter Bunny and enjoyed looking into the baskets together and playing with all the books and toys.

We tried to get a family picture with both of the grandkids in it for Grammy but that proved to be pretty difficult with two squirrelly boys who did not want to sit still and look at the camera. That was fine though, they were still adorable in their Easter outfits.

After a great lunch Wesley took a nap and we decided to hide some Easter eggs for grant to find. We had planned on going out in the backyard for the hunt but it was pouring rain so we had a change of plans and hunted eggs in the living room. Grant enjoyed it just the same and loved the Wonder Pets fruit snacks that hid inside the eggs.

Although the Easter baskets and family time is fun the most important thing we are so thankful on this special day is for the love of our God and the gift of His son through which we all have eternal life!

Deck Building 101

Matt has always wanted to build a deck onto the back porch ever since we moved into the house. Now that Grant loves to be outside playing on the swing set so much we thought that now would be the perfect time. So one weekend Matt enlisted the help of his dad, brother-in-law and best friend to get this project stared. The first weekend was dedicated to getting the ground prepped and the foundation started.

It turned out to be more difficult that Matt thought to level the ground out where the grass had been. There was a lot of shoveling, leveling and laying concrete blocks.

At the end of a hard weekend's work the foundation was level and ready for the decking material to be attached....but that would have to wait until next weekend.

The next weekend was met with many hours of hard work for Matt and his best friend Travis laying the decking but I think the result speaks for itself......

We absolutely love our new deck! We have so much more room to relax and have outdoor furniture. Now we have a comfy area to watch Grant as he plays on the swing set. Thanks to Matt and crew for all their hard work on this project!

I see "ishes"!!

Grant has always been interested in fish and calls them "ishies". This all started because he has a fish aquarium thing that hangs on his crib and plays music. It is, by far, one of his favorite things! Sometimes we even go to Petsmart just to walk around and look at the fish. so we knew that the aquarium would be a huge hit and it definitely was! Grant loved to run up to the glass and point and laugh at all the fish that would swim by.

At first he was a little timid because the fish were big compared to the ones he has seem before. but by the end of our visit he and the fish were good friends.

Because there was so much to do and look at eating our meal was the lst thing that Grant wanted to sit still and do.

After eating we decided to go on the train ride underwater Shark tour. Grant was very excited to get to ride on an actual train and kept saying "toot-toot" for the train sound. The sharks were pretty impressive too. Although Grant looks more terrified in the below picture! :)

The aquarium was such a fun way to spend a day. It is always so fun to watch your toddler experience things for the very first time!

Let's go out in the rain and jump in the puddles!

With dinosaur boots in tow (which he loves now) we headed outside to do something every little boy loves to do....jump in the puddles!

He had so much fun and did not want to come inside when it was time. Now if it is raining outside Grant will run into his room and look for his "boos" (boots) so he can go outside!

Texas Bluebonnets

The day the Lord created hope was probably the same day he created Spring.
~Bern Williams~

We are so lucky to live down in the south of Texas where the wildflowers grow abundantly every spring. Along the highways by our house are the most beautiful collection of bluebonnets and it seems like a tradition for many, us included, to take pictures of our families and kids in the bluebonnets. Last year Grant was only 6 months old and sat in the flowers so nicely and smiled for the camera. This year was quite different! Our rambunctious almost two-year old wanted nothing to do with sitting in the flowers for a pretty picture for mommy. We did end up with a few good pictures so overall the day was a success.
